AAT are a worldwide organisation with more than 100,000 members and are established as the standard for accounting technicians.
Who is the course for?
The course is designed for those students who wish to undertake a short introductory course in accounting. It will act as a ‘taster’ to see if accountancy is a field you wish to pursue. It will also cater for those students who have been out of the classroom environment for some time, and will help them back into a study routine.
What is the course about?
You will study the following four topics:
- Accounting in a professional environment
- Creating business documents
- Essential accounting procedures
- Mathematics for accounting
The work will be mainly teacher directed, and you will have the opportunity to complete lots of practice activities.
How is it assessed?
You will be assessed through one computer-based exam, as is marked as ‘competent’ or ‘not yet competent’.
Do I need to bring anything?
Basic study materials including a calculator
You will be advised to purchase the core text book, currently £18.95 (available from the AAT shop). You will also need to register with the AAT (approx. £40) once you have started the course.
You will be required to hold at least 5 GCSE’s including Maths and English Language at grade A* - C.
