AAT are a worldwide organisation with more than 100,000 members and are established as the standard for accounting technicians.
Who is the course for?
If you have used bookkeeping in your job or if you have studied basic bookkeeping qualifications and wish to improve your employment opportunities this course would be appropriate for you. Because the course moves at a fast pace it is not recommended for students who have not studied any accounting before, unless they are working in the sector.
What is the course about?
You will study the following five topics:
- Bookkeeping transactions
- Book-keeping controls
- Elements of costing
- Working effectively in finance
- Using accounting software
The work will be mainly teacher directed, and you will have the opportunity to complete lots of practice activities.
How is it assessed?
You will be assessed through 4 computer-based exams as well as a computer-based synoptic assessment.
Do I need to bring anything?
Basic study materials including a calculator
You will be advised on the text books to purchase and you will need to register with AAT (approx. £130) once you have started the course. Any exam retakes will also incur additional costs.
You will be required to hold at least 5 GCSE’s including Maths and English Language at grade A* - C
This is an academic course, which will require a considerable amount of home study to supplement the lessons.
