What is the course about?
Are you a born explorer, able to appreciate the scale of our existence throughout the space-time continuum?
Embark on a journey where we will cover some of the most exciting aspects of our universe, historical breakthroughs in space exploration and recent developments. We’ll look at a number of topics such as historical breakthrough in Astronomy, the Milky Way and other galaxies, the Doppler Effect, black holes, general relativity, gravity and ‘life’ on other worlds.
During the course we will cover:
- The Solar System
- The Milky Way and other Galaxies
- The Hubble space telescope
- The Scale of the Universe
- Mars, the Red Planet
- Black Holes
- The importance of Gravity and Light
- The life cycle of stars
- Recent events: Trappist-1, LIGO, LISA
- General / Special Relativity, time dilation
