What is the course about?

Are you a born explorer, able to appreciate the scale of our existence throughout the space-time continuum?

Embark on a journey where we will cover some of the most exciting aspects of our universe, historical breakthroughs in space exploration and recent developments. We’ll look at a number of topics such as historical breakthrough in Astronomy, the Milky Way and other galaxies, the Doppler Effect, black holes, general relativity, gravity and ‘life’ on other worlds.


Study Programme:

During the course we will cover:

  • The Solar System
  • The Milky Way and other Galaxies
  • The Hubble space telescope
  • The Scale of the Universe
  • Mars, the Red Planet
  • Black Holes
  • The importance of Gravity and Light
  • The life cycle of stars
  • Recent events: Trappist-1, LIGO, LISA
  • General / Special Relativity, time dilation

A keen interest in Astronomy.
