Who is the course for?
Anyone interested in the biological sciences and looking to progress in a science related career.
What is the course about?
In the first AS year you will study:
- The Development of Practical and Mathematical Skills
- Foundations in Biology
- Exchange and Transport
- Biodiversity, Evolution and Disease.
Are there any course requirements?
This is a demanding course. You should have GCSE grade B or above in Biology or Science (Double Award), or equivalent and preferably GCSE Mathematics Grade B or equivalent. If there has been a long gap in your education please speak to a member of the biology team to discuss which level you should be taking.
Do I need to bring anything?
A scientific calculator, writing paper etc.
Are there any other costs?
A text book costing £24.99.

We use fully-equipped Biology laboratories on the second floor of the New College building.
What can I do next?
The AS can be a standalone qualification with exams in May or June. If you wish to progress to the A2 you will sit exams at the end of the 2nd year that cover the whole course. Biology A level is only achieved by sitting exams at the end of year 2.
